The Social Innovation Groups of the University of Michigan, School of Information is currently recruiting job seekers to join our study. Sign up here:

This study consists of two sessions. The first session will include a 45-60 minute interview session. You will be asked to share your experience using digital tools or websites for job searches. Some participants will have a chance to use a digital tool to perform job seeking activities (e.g., writing a resume or taking a mock-interview video). You will be invited to participate in a second session that will take approximately 60-80 minutes. In the second session, you will be talking about your job seeking experience in the past month. In the one month between the two sessions, you will be asked to keep a weekly diary to report your job-search activities.

You will receive $15 for your participation in the first session, $20 for a 4-week diary keeping, and the remaining $10 for participating in the second session. In other words, you will receive a total of $45 if you fully participate in both sessions.

1. Participants should be 18 years old or older
2. Participants should be job seekers living in the Great Detroit area or Southeast Michigan
3. Participants should have a bachelor's degree or less
4. Participants should either own Internet-connected devices, such as computers or smartphones, or know where to access these devices, such as public libraries.

Flexible. We will mainly meet in public spaces such as the library or the community center. The research team will discuss with the job seeker about the place to meet.

If you’re interested, please provide your contact information using the form linked here: Our team member will call you for more detailed information and schedule a study session with you in a few days after you sign up. Thank you very much for your time! If you know anyone else who is looking for a job, please forward this link to them.
