Nana's Kids Chrome Metal Shopping Rolling Cart Folding Seat Doll/Decor 12" x 10"
These were found in Nana’s top shelf in her kitchen after she passed. We think this is VINTAGE. It appears to be HANDMADE and we’re pretty sure it was USED.
This kind of miniature shopping cart was really popular in the late 70s and the early 80s. I had one that at one point was décor in the bathroom that held a fresh soap on the seat and rolled guest towels in the cart basket. I knew other people who used them in the kitchen, to hold all the dishwashing items so they were not all over the place. You know, a hand scrubber, soap dispensers, and various sponges for different jobs.
When I first saw this, easily 3 x the size of my old one, I thought, “oh, cool, that can hold so much stuff cluttering the counters”.
Never did I think this could be a cool pretend toy for your child’s vivid imagination. Maybe because my cart died of old age before I had children?
Back to the handmade part. Before everything was made in factories and there was no variation, they would have assemblers who would individually put parts together. While I see a few of these online, they all look slightly different. Our folding seat doesn’t fit exactly in, but as you can see by the Build-a-Bear Cat (Kitty Cat Kitty, by name) it doesn’t seem to matter to the cat.
For information purposes, Kitty Cat Kitty is 16 ½” tall, and 9” at her widest. She is a little thick, but that’s just more to love. : ) Kitty Cat Kitty does NOT come with the shopping cart.
Nor do we think it matters if used for display. We doubt people are measuring the distance between chrome sections. Just in case it does, a well place piece of ribbon on the top edge can cover it easily.
Please zoom in and verify what we are saying. We truly want your child (or you) to be happy.
This cart is large and is 12” x 7 ½” x 10 ½.”
Boxed for shipping, this weighs 3 lbs 10 ozs and measures 16” x 10” x 12”.
