This is a rare estate collection of taxidermy mounts originally hunted or caught by my dad, throughout the 1960s, 1970s and 1980 and displayed in his den. The mounts reflect classic Midwest hunting-den style and mid-century taxidermy techniques.
Left-to-right description (as seen in photos, IDs based on appearance):
1. Flying domestic duck, looks like a Blue Swedish or Rouen mix – mounted in a flying pose with wings fully extended.
2. Mounted Brook Trout, looks like a male – realistic posture with fins and tail spread for display.
3. Flying Ring-necked Pheasant, looks like a male – mid-flight/flushing pose highlighting wingspan and long tail feathers.
4. Canada Goose, flying left – very large wingspan mount with extended neck; dramatic wall display piece.
5. Flying Ring-necked Pheasant, looks like a male – mid-flight/flushing pose.
6. Wood Duck, male (drake) – mounted upright on base. Included in photos for provenance only; protected species and not for sale. Scan of original signed U.S. Department of the Interior Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp license from 1981 is shown for historical context.

Provenance / Collector Story:
My dad began hunting and fishing as a child in East Jordan, Michigan and documented those early years in a personal memoir. He fished local creeks including Cokirs Creek and hunted throughout northern Michigan before later acquiring more advanced firearms and equipment.
As an adult he hunted nearly every weekend during the season and traveled widely across Michigan, Ontario (including Pelee Island), and out west. These mounts represent only a small fraction of the birds he harvested over the years, but they were the ones he chose to have mounted and display.
Scans of his original hunting and fishing licenses and stamps from that era are available for provenance. Originals are retained by the family.
Included in the photos is a scan of a 1970s photo showing my dad laying out many of the birds on the hood of a car — a snapshot of part of his personal collection at the time.
Collector Notes:
• Flying pheasant mounts are the classic “flushing” style showing full wingspan
• The Canada Goose mount is large and visually striking for wall display
• The standing pheasants appear to be melanistic (darker color variation)
• Domestic duck adds variety for collectors
• Brook Trout shows spotting and fin markings typical of mounts from this era
• Wood Duck is included for historical context only and is not for sale due to federal protections
Approximate collector values (based on recent sold listings for similar vintage mounts on eBay):

Prefer to sell as a collection but will consider individual offers.
Local pickup recommended due to size and fragility.
Important Note:
The Wood Duck (male drake) is protected under U.S. wildlife law and is not being sold. It is included in the photos only as part of the historical display and provenance.
