I am a semi retired residential builder. We have built literally 1000's of decks and pole barns. Which require post holes. We drill our holes with a 753 Bobcat skid steer loader equipped with a very powerful hydraulic auger which can get through the toughest of soils. We have 10" 12" and 18" auger attachments available.
