For sale are (2) Electrovoice (EV) B115M bass guitar speakers that have been upgraded to higher power and efficiency, and full range frequency response. They may be purchased for $500 apiece. They have been around, but perform flawlessly.
From the factory, they came with EVM15B 100-watt woofers, and 6-1/2" VMR (vented mid-range) speakers. I have upgraded them by replacing the 15" woofers with EV 400-watt DL15X's and adding DH3 tweeters and crossovers. You can see cutouts in the pictures of the fronts, where the midrange speakers had a level control, and now have horn tweeters. The original crossovers simply cut the low frequencies from the mid-range speakers and put them in parallel with the woofer, without taking the midrange frequencies out of the woofers. So with the midrange level control fully up, they were 4 ohms at high frequencies, and 8 ohms at low frequencies! (This is the first time I ever wondered about EV engineering.)
I beefed up the crossovers and added the tweeters, so that they are now full audio range (45-20,000 Hz), nominal 8 ohms, and raised the power handling from 100 watts to 400. I also added a Neutrik Speakon connector to the existing 1/4" phone jacks.
They are unbeatable for PA, keyboards, bass guitar, even high fidelity! If certain safety precautions are followed, they can be used with amplifiers up to 800 watts per channel.
DANGER: Hearing damage possible if used at too high volume. Also, eviction.
They are constructed with vinyl-covered seven-ply plywood, aluminum periphery angles, and steel front grills. They measure 24-1/2" wide x 30-1/2" high x 12-1/4" deep. Weight is 107 lbs. each. They have casters on the bottoms, and handles on the sides.
