1967 Sunn Solarus amplifier. This combo amp is from the first year of Solarus production (1967) as dated on chassis.
It has the original Dynaco output transformer and the original Western AC transformer.
This amp has been serviced and updated as follows:
New electrolytic capacitors throughout including a new CE Distribution multi-cap.
All pots replaced with matching new CTS pots (except for the original 3-Gang verb pot)
The "Death Cap" was removed, grounded power cord was installed and matching new Sunn lighted power switch installed. Both power and standby switches functioning. The previous owner changed the cabinet to a closed back style, added a 1/4"inch jack connection to the internal speakers and a balanced XLR connection to the reverb tank (possibly to use XLR pig-tail as a direct out) The cabinet has two 12" inch vintage Herald "Muscle Magnet" speakers installed and the cabinet is insulated. It had previously been rewired and biased for two 6L6 tubes but was converted back to the original EL34 configuration. Two NOS vintage Sylvania "Fat Bottle" EL34 tubes are installed. This amp is loud - and in my opinion and incredible amp for use with pedals. It's clean all the way to 10 with no "break-up" like a Marshall - so what you put in you get out uncolored. Perfect for pedals and modeling through a vintage tube head. The amp can be auditioned before purchase, of course, and since I did the work on this amp myself if you have any questions please feel free to call.
