An Electrical Maintenance Technician for a drone battery cell automatic assembly line is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing high-speed automated production equipment to ensure continuous cell manufacturing. This role focuses on troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), robotics, servo motors, and conveyor systems, often within a cleanroom or specialized manufacturing environment.
Core Responsibilities
Preventative & Corrective Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance (PM) and emergency repairs on automated assembly equipment, including coating, stacking, welding, and filling machines.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Serve as the first responder to machine breakdowns, conducting root cause analysis to identify electrical, mechanical, or software faults.
PLC & Robotics Support: Maintain, troubleshoot, and update Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and robotic automation units.
Electrical System Upkeep: Install, test, and repair sensors, VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), motor controls, and wiring systems.
System Optimization: Collaborate with engineering teams to install new equipment, perform retrofits, and upgrade existing production lines to increase efficiency.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate records of machine maintenance, repairs, and down-time in CMMS/SAP systems.
Safety Protocols: Strictly follow Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and safety protocols while handling high-voltage systems or working around hazardous materials.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Experience: 2-5+ years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician, preferably in battery manufacturing, automotive, or high-volume automated production.
Electrical Expertise: Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems (AC/DC), schematics reading, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
Automation Knowledge: Proficient in troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), servo systems, and factory robotics.
Soldering/Wiring: Proficiency in electrical soldering, crimping, and PCB handling.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Technical Degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, or industrial maintenance is highly preferred.
Physical Demands: Ability to work in a demanding manufacturing environment, lift up to 35-50 lbs, and stand for long periods (up to 12 hours).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Li-ion battery manufacturing, specifically with electrode coating or assembly.
Experience working in a cleanroom or dry room environment.
Familiarity with ISO standards, UL508A code, and Lean manufacturing practices.
Experience with Vision Systems used for quality control in automated lines.
Typical Physical & Working Conditions
This role requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, shoes, and sometimes a Personal Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).
Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and nights.
Work involves high-speed machinery and potentially hazardous chemical environments.
