Abracadabra Jewelry is looking for a marketing and sales assistant to add to our team of jewelers, salespeople, and lovers of all things sparkly! This is a part-time position at our retail store and gem gallery, which has been located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor since 1974.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The marketing assistant will primarily aid in marketing activities which require an onsite component: managing the day-to-day and correspondence on our social media accounts, taking photos and videos in store for those accounts, managing other last-minute photo needs, and performing occasional light design duties utilizing our established branding (ie. in-storage signage).
We would also like this person to be trained to fill in on our sales floor as needed, with the assistance of our seasoned sales staff. Our salespeople help customers find the jewelry that was meant for them from our sizable selection of rings, earrings, necklaces, and more. We specialize in ethically sourced stones and eco-metals, so our customers can feel good about their jewelry! We also do extensive custom work.
No jewelry experience? No problem! Your fellow sales staff and management will train you on the ins and outs of the business and the lovingly handmade products we sell. It's a lot to learn, but it's also fun!
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
-Strong photography and basic video skills
-Entry-level social media marketing experience (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest)
-Basic competency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Express (primarily for photo editing and in-store signage)
-Retail/sales floor experience
-Knowledge of, or enthusiasm for learning, the ins and outs of the fine jewelry industry
-Excellent organizational skills
BONUS POINTS:
-Experience working with Shopify, including experience shipping products
-Real graphic and/or web design experience (not just Canva, Squarespace, etc.)
-HTML and CSS competency
-Experience reading Google Analytics and other online performance metrics
-Basic understanding of SEO/AEO principles
If hired, the marketing assistant can expect about 25-30 hours/week, with a potential for full-time employment in the future.
To apply, please send your resume and cover letter, or stop by our shop with printed copies during open hours. We can't wait to meet you!
