VTG RARE Chittenden's Place by Charlotte Joan Sternberg Signed #ed LTD Ed – MINT
This was over Nana’s Mantle every Christmas and fit her Cape Cod designed home with its complementary décor to a T.
This lithograph is titled Chittenden's Place and evocative of Norman Rockwell’s America. By artist Charlotte Joan Sternberg, it comes in a weathered, grayish, wooden frame which evokes the Northeast seaside, an area she painted for decades, and an area Nana lived in for a decade.
It measures, including frame and mat, 46 ¼” x 25 ¾” x 2.” This framing is double matted with the outer mat being 2 ¾” and inner mat is ¼” for a total of 3.” The outer mat appears to be a off-white linen while the inner is a thin salmon strip that brings out the red of the barns.
We apologize for our pictures, as they do not do this justice. The first shows off the matting. The second came out too dark. And the third, while still not quite right, has an upper right corner that shows the ‘feeling’ of being out after the snowstorm, after the streets are plowed, and the sun is shining in the sharp winter air. You know, that bright white that hurts your eyes. T
The print itself is 36 ½” x 16 ¼” and would be ½” larger all around under the mat.
In excellent condition. Signed and numbered 293/1250.
