Excellent homestead sow. Penny was sired by a Red Wattles boar, and the dame is Duroc, Old Berkshire, and Kunekune mix.
Born December of 2021, she is full grown and roughly 400-500 lbs. She has no known health issues and has not had any vaccines.
She has been raised her whole life on pasture and is a very smart and friendly pig. She grazes on organic grass/hay year round and is given a small amount of grain/mineral feed each day. (We use Dexter Mill).
She is an excellent mother and has had 4 litters averaging 8-10 piglets per litter. She is such an attentive mom that she is frequently found nursing the piglets from our other sows. Early December, we put her with the boar she has had successful litters with. If she is mated this cycle or next, she will be due in April 2026. If you sell her litter of piglets as feeders, you will cover your costs the first litter.
She is not aggressive, easy to load in a trailer, and will follow us around the pasture with a scoop of food.
Selling as we need to downsize our herd due to other family concerns.
