Lane Cedar-Lined MCM Mid-Century Modern Dresser Chest – 1950s
Authentic 1950s Lane Furniture dresser manufactured in Altavista, Virginia. Features a beautiful blonde Art Deco–inspired design with a polished whitewashed finish and warm ambered varnish. All original condition, including original hardware.
The interior is fully cedar-lined, a hallmark of quality vintage Lane pieces. Cedar was traditionally used to naturally repel moths and fabric pests, help control moisture, and keep stored items fresh without chemicals — ideal for sweaters, wool garments, linens, blankets, or heirloom textiles.
Unlike standard cedar blanket chests, this piece features two front doors at standard dresser height, making it especially versatile and easy to use in today’s homes. Cedar-lined Lane dressers with doors are less common and sought after for their combination of everyday function and collectible mid-century design.
Very well cared for. Some UV-related finish wear is present, consistent with age and authenticity. From a non-smoking, pet-free home.
Multipurpose uses include:
• Bedroom dresser or sweater cabinet
• Linen or blanket storage
• Entryway storage for scarves and seasonal items
• Guest room, cottage, or nursery storage (natural, chemical-free cedar)
