condition: good
size / dimensions: 20 x 16 inches

I’ve owned this painting for a long time and it hung in my house every September through early December, but it’s time for a new owner. I don’t know much about original art, but I’m pretty sure it’s oil on canvas. I’ve included a close up of the brush strokes to help identify the technique.

The actual painting itself measures a bit under 20 x 16 inches and it’s enclosed in a large, ornate double frame: an interior gold frame enclosed by a wider, ornate brown frame It’s all under glass which has protected the original color and detail for 65 years.

On the back of the painting are a few details. I can see the first name “Gale,” but the last name is hard to make out. The painting is also signed “Gale” in the bottom right corner. All I remember is that the artist was from a rural area near Jackson, MI. This is a one-of-a-kind original.

The subject matter of the painting is a typical mid-fall day along a wide path in the woods. The leaves are just starting to fall. The painting has great fall colors and is a bit muted, but still detailed.

If you want an original oil painting by a Michigander, and you like the subject matter, this would be a great piece to display.
