In 1858, Joseph Schlitz bought the brewery from August Klug, married his widow, and began to continue brewing in Milwaukee.
By 1902, Schmitz was the largest beer producer in the U.s. Schlitz was eventually bought out by Stroh’s in 1982.
The pitcher and the mug look like they might have been from the 60s. The pitcher is two-sided, with the Schlitz logo and motto: “The Beer that made Milwaukee Famous.” There are a few, very small rim irregularities near the pouring spout. The mug, which is only one-sided, has no issues.
The pitcher is approximately 9 inches high while the mug stands 6 1/4 inches high.
