These beautiful slippers were found in my MILs bedroom, wrapped up in a bag in her closet. She never got a chance to use them.
Nana’s was also Canadian, and loved her LL Bean, which we are pretty sure she purchased these slippers there. These have a 42 on the bottom of the shoe, and absolutely no other markings telling us the size. 42 says these are an 11 US for women, but they are NOT. If these are Men’s shoes, then this could be a 9, but it doesn’t work with shoe conversion charts. Sigh.
The last 3 pictures show the measurement of the sole. It is 10 inches US visually. It appears to be 10 ½” US at the very edge of the sole if you hold the tape down *before* moving up to the suede. And the width appears to 4” US, both visually, and the tape down before the sole starts moving up towards the suede. You have to be very sure you can fit into these before you buy. We do not do returns. And the last thing we want is for somebody to be disappointed.
From looking online, we are pretty sure these are a size 8 or 8 ½. Nana was an 8 ½”
And we know they are VINTAGE and NEW and UNUSED. We are just unsure of how old these are.
This is, according to Google, a Nakiska. There are plenty of new Nakiska II out there, but only a few pre-owned originals. This has a better design. The II’s do not break up the front suede with the cross stitch X’s, which make the slipper appear slimmer than the ones that are only one piece of suede. Also, the Sorel name is stitched into the insole, not carved into the back heel area. Finally, this original version has cross stitch X’s on the outer back edge of both shoes near the midpoint of the ankle, and near the bear standing over the Sorel logo.
