I was told by an antique dealer that these andirons were turn-of-the-century, featuring traditional French design influences, scrolled feet, and detailed ionic column pillars. The pair sits 28 1/2 inches tall, and the back bars are 28 1/2 inches deep. The andirons seem to be machine cast in four pieces. Square bolts. The crossbar, I was told, was hand forged. The decorative pillars feature ornate gold toned filigree, sometimes described as a grape or flower design. The base supports include distinct fleur-de-lis motif. They are extremely heavy!
