Vintage Highly Carved Soapstone Chinese Trinket Dish - $20 (near Chelsea)

This cute little piece is carved out of soapstone, probably sometime in the middle 20th century. The bottom has a small gouge, but I think it was part of the process of making it.
The dish has a floral theme with highly carved leaves and a flower. There’s a little platform that looks like it could have held a cigarette. Luckily, no one used this artistic dish as an ashtray,
This piece measures 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches.
It would make an excellent and classy holder for keys or small jewelry.
