I’ve only seen a few of these over the years, but they’ve all been solid colors and had a fastener to seal the top.
This carrier is both plaid and has a zipper to seal it.

Goebel Beer started in Detroit in 1873 and by the 1880s, it was Detroit’s third largest brewery. The brewery had to close in 1920 because of Prohibition and reopened in 1934.

In the 1950s, the company adopted Brewster Rooster as its new mascot, when Goebel’s began sponsoring Tiger baseball.

The beer was a light lager and didn’t cost much, which is probably why so many of my uncles drank it.

Goebel’s was sold to Stroh’s in the 1960s.

The zipper works fine to insure a tight seal. Some of the edges are a bit curved from use, but it has no effect on the function.

On the front right bottom corner is Brewster Rooster with the words “Goe-Pack” underneath. On each side is the Goebel’s logo surrounded by the words “Crystilled Beer.”
On the back bottom is written “1959 Goebel Brewing Co.—Detroit, Michigan.”

The carrier is designed to perfectly fit a six-pack of 12-oz cans.

As you can see from the photos, the carrier is still in pretty good shape for being from 66 years ago. If you’re a Goebel’s collector, this one’s a rarity.
