The original artwork for this piece was done by Mary H. Tainter in 1850 and currently resides in the museum of George Washington’s Mount Vernon. It’s considered an etched pencil technique which shows Washington’s residence in the upper left on a hill and his tomb in the foreground below.
As you can see from the photos, the borders of the print have been discolored through the many years of storage, and there’s a small chunk missing from the upper right corner. Fortunately, these issues don’t affect the graphics and can be easily remedied through matteing and a frame.
The artwork measures 9 x 9 1/4 inches. The actual artwork itself is approximately 7 x 5 inches.
