In 1889, J. Wallace Page started the Page Woven Fence Co. in Adrian, Michigan, making fences for animals, cemeteries, and parks. Page was the first to manufacture successful wire fences and business boomed. Adrian became known as “the fence capital of the world.”
At the company’s height, Page employed over a hundred people. The company was so successful that it sponsored a Black Ameridan professional baseball team called the Page Fence Giants. The team played between 1895 and 1898.
The company moved to Pennsylvania in 1902 and changed names.
This brochure measures 3 1/2 x 6 1/4 inches and folds out to 21 inches wide.
Many of the individual pages provide info on the different types of fences sold by the company.
The front cover has a picture of a buffalo behind a fence, presumably to indicate how strong Page fences were.
Even though the front cover has a few corner chunks missing, all of the pages are clear and informative. Quite a find.
