Goebel Beer started in Detroit in 1873 and by the 1880s, was one of the largest brewers in the Detroit area. Most Goebel drinkers were locals, but the company briefly expanded throughout the state of Michigan and a few surrounding states.
In 1964, Goiebel was bought by Stroh’s.
“John Dehring & Sons” was one of the distributors in Michigan, out of Alpena.
At the very top of the label is written “Pure Food Without Drugs or Poison.”
On the Goebel shield logo, it reads “Our aim is to produce the purest beer made.” The contents are label 12 1/2 ounces, a little wiggle room for the bottle.
The labels measure 4 3/4 x 3 1/2 inches and are in mint condition, obviously never used.
Any one of these labels, or all of them, would look great framed.
