I’m not sure what country these soldiers (and one sailor) are from, but I’m guessing either Holland (at the time), Germany, or France. Only two of the photo postcards have writing on the backs, and only one was postmarked.
On of the cards has a “Meer en Bosch” written on the back. Fortunately, one person who’s much more knowledgeable than me regarding foreign languages, informed me that the phrase roughly translates to “Lake in the Woods.” He mentioned that it might have been a resort spot for men on leave.
Two of the cards are duplicates (the four soldiers), one with writing on the back and one without.
All of the men look very serious in the photos.
On the back of the lighter photo with the group of soldiers is a handwritten message in beautiful cursive. It could be in Dutch since I bought the grouping from an estate in western Michigan.
As you can see from the photos, all seven are in good shape.
