During the Victorian era, people loved artwork that featured angelic children.
In 1897, artist Morris B.Parkinson hired a photographer who used his friend’s four-year old daughter to pose for two photos, which he called “Cupid Asleep” and “Cupid Awake.”
The photos became so popular that Ohio Art Company, in 1908, marketed the prints to sell in hundreds of five and dime stores in the U. S. In various sizes. They were fitted in oval frames.
This is one of those prints in a glass covered frame.
The oval frame measures approximately 8 x10 inches and is in excellent shape.
