In 1922 John Kar opened his soda pop bottling company on Detroit’s Jefferson Ave. near Zug Island. The Hungarian neighborhood (Del Ray) will be near where the new Gordie Howe International Bridge will be built.
The crate holds 12 quart-sized bottles. As you can see from the photos, the crate is in really good shape. The crate is marked on all four sides of the outside, and the two longer sides on the inside.
Why makes these bottles so unique are their green color. Some of the bottle have labels on them to help nearby bars identify the specific type of mixer that they would need. For instance, one of the bottles is labeled “Tom Collins” while another is labeled “Lemon-LIme.”
The bottles themselves are in great shape, and these green ones are a rarer than the white ones. While none of the green bottles are currently on sale on Etsy or eBay, I have seen them listed for the 12-28 dollar range for just one bottle. The crate alone has been sold on Etsy for $45.
Each bottle is labeled with the JK logo and the words “Sparkling,” Refreshing,” and “Invigorating.”
