These two toys from 90 years ago are some of the earliest Fisher-Price toys.
In 1936, Fisher-Price was a relatively new company, which began during the Great Depression (1930). The company quickly became known for its high quality, sturdy, and affordable toys.
Back then, Fisher-Price partnered with Walt Disney Enterprises (another young company) to make a paddle, pop-up string toy “Kritter,” modeled after Pluto the Dog.
All of Pluto’s parts are connected to a heavy-duty string that has two pull rings on the bottom. When pulled, Pluto pops to attention. Simple fun for kids in 1936. Both Plutos have good working and original mechanisms.
One of the Plutos has missing ears, but the other is complete. Both have their original strings, rings, and paddles. One paddle base is blue, the other in green.
The paddle is 11 inches long and Pluto stands 4 1/2 inches high when the string is pulled.
