I know when I have to pay my credit card bill, I have to increase my revenue or cut my spending. If there's not enough revenue to pay the whole thing off today, the debt carries over.
If I have a surplus, or at least less of a deficit this month, I can pay more on the credit card. If not, the debt continues.
I'm not seeing how you can decrease the debt without first decreasing the deficit.
Our buddy George and his folks spent $1.2 Trillion more than they collected in one year. I think that added quite a bit to the national debt. Barry is projected to spend $5 point something Billion more than collected this year. Unless I'm missing something, that should add a helluva lot less to the debt this year when compared to $1.2 Trillion. I mean, like a lot less than half as much.
Sounds like progress to me.
Bring on the obfuscations! This surely needs de-clarifying.
