Start Your Non-Profit Career As an Advocate For the Great Lakes. (Ann Arbor)
compensation: $400 - 515/week
joining a team of dedicated and like-minded individuals in the fight to protect our environment, public health
and our communities at large. CWA provides the opportunity to make real environmental change stemming
locally and reaching out globally.
CWA is at the forefront of efforts to protect our natural resources and public interest. As Michigan's
largest environmental not-for-profit organization, CWA has maintained a forty year history of WINNING
campaigns. As a member of our campaign team, you will have the opportunity to influence the ever expanding
environmental movement in Michigan.
Our focus is on water quality issues in Michigan. Right now, more than 50% of toxic water pollution comes
from power plants, mainly because guidelines on that pollution haven't been updated in over thirty years.
Since Michigan is surrounded by over 20% of the world's fresh water, we are fighting for stronger guidelines on
power plant pollution.
We are hiring and training community organizers to join our staff, both
for part time and long term positions. There is ample room for advancement,
and we work year round -- we don't just disappear after elections.
Candidates should have strong verbal communication skills, be positive and
energetic, and have an interest in environmental issues or non-profit work.
We do offer extensive training.
