I bought this bass new about 7 years ago for $600. Since then, it has not been played nearly as much as it should have been; I never got used to that 5th string (I'm just too uncoordinated). It's been recorded with a couple times using home equipment (i.e. plugging it into a direct box), and never been gigged with, smoked with, had stuff spilled on it, etc. It comes with its original padded Tobias gigbag (which is also still in fantastic condition as it hasn't been to any gigs!). The only thing that needs any fixing is that the E-string JUST BROKE a couple days ago (you can see in the picture), so that string would need to be replaced . . . it's strung with nickel D'addarios, so that should be pretty easy.

Sound-wise, it sounds somewhere between that fat, smooth Bartolini sound and the more "modern" sound of the Ibanez Soundgear basses . . . the active EQ and blend knob really affect the tone, pushing it from thick thumping hip-hop-bass tone all the way to a very treble-heavy snarl on top of a deep low end, the sort of thing you might hear in modern alt-rock and alt-metal. I mostly used it to play Dream Theater and Trivium, and actually the tone I got from it that I used most could best be described as similar to John Myung's tone on "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence".

Anyway, the bass is in fantastic condition, it looks beautiful, it plays really well, it sounds great, comes with its original gigbag, and all it needs is a new E-string. Perfect if you wanted to get a really nice 5-string bass for less than what a new one costs.

Similar to the Mirage synth/sampler, the ESQ-1 was Ensoniq's highly affordable and impressive digital synthesizer. Although the waveforms are digital in nature, the filters are all analog as on the Mirage. In fact, for a digital synth the ESQ-1 has many good old analog-synth features such as a ring modulator, sequencer, and oscillator-sync. The envelopes and LFOs are can be freely routed to each DCO, VCA and or VCF. There are 40 preset sounds which are the usual not-so-great sounds. Luckily the VFD display screen is large enough to make editing the sounds somewhat pleasant.

What really sets the ESQ-1 apart from other similar synths is the voice architecture. Choose from analog, digital, or samples or any combo since there are three independent oscillators per voice! Once you start editing on the ESQ-1 you will come up with interesting and unique results. Using dynamic voice allocation it can seemlesly switch from 8-voices of analog to 8-voices of digital or sampled voices! This gives you a wide array of different sonic elements at your fingertips!

Then there's its built-in sequencer. It can store up to 24,000 notes in 30 sequences and 10 songs via battery back-up. Anyone in search of an alternative synthesizer should consider the ESQ-1. More analog than a DX-7 or D-50 and also much cheaper, the ESQ-1 is a tasty option that is worth a try. A rack-mount version, the ESQ-M (pictured above) was also made which is identical to the ESQ-1 except that it excludes the on-board sequencer option. i have a yamaha guitar, all black, nothing wrong with it just needs strings - - 50$$

i have a crate amp, the distortion works intermittently on low. but works fine when turned up
everything else on it works, has alot of effects, plus an on board tuner - - 50$$

i also have a partial drum set, it needs heads and some hardware on the bass drum, otherwise its all there,

This would be a great first instrument for somebody just starting out. YAS 23s are dependable, come recommended by most school music teachers and private instructors, and they have good resale value. They sell new for about $1600 and the ProTone mouthpiece would cost another $55 new, so this is a good deal. I'm only selling to help fund the cost of a pro-level instrument. When we asked King's Keyboard about selling it, they said they'd likely be able to resell it at the $895 price point, but we'd have to pay to ship it to them, and then pay them a split, so they suggested putting the piano here.

It plays wonderfully and is a very nice blond colored wood. It's only ever needed minor tuning and is kept in a smoke free household with a dehumidifier for summer, and a humidifier for winter to protect the wood.
You'll have to move it, but it's in a walk out basement, so it shouldn't be much trouble. (2 of us moved the new one in.)
According to the serial number and what I've read online, it was built in the 1950s.
