I scored in the top percentiles of all test takers in the verbal portion of both tests, and have proven myself in assisting people in raising their verbal scores, too. Most of those who have sought me out as a tutor are those who have found most test prep books and commercial courses to be less than effective, and who have decided to look for a patient and skilled instructor for the verbal part of the GMAT, GRE and SAT tests.

Many people erroneously feel that the verbal part of these tests cannot be studied in a traditional way, but my average student succeeds in an increase of 100 points or more. I teach proven approaches to acing the verbal section of the GMAT, the GRE, and the SAT, which reduce feelings of anxiety and fear -usually the result of not having a complete understand of the exam and what to study.

In the past several years I have taught several hundred students to distill the material into different techniques and strategies for getting a high score and it would be my pleasure to be your tutor, too. Please reply with the best phone number and time of day at which to reach you, and I will promptly get back to you. Please also include a little bit about your background and which test you are studying for. I always enjoy learning about people’s unique situations. Thank you and I will look forward to hearing from you. You can leave me the best number to reach you at.

Tutoring vs. Taking a Class:

Looking to improve on the MCAT? Consider private tutoring, a cheaper and much more personalized alternative to taking a Kaplan or Princeton prep course. Private tutoring allows students to meet one-on-one with an instructor, spending more time on their weaker subjects and less on their stronger ones. Tutoring proves to be a much more efficient alternative to classroom instruction, and my clients see the difference in their scores.

My Qualifications:

I am the most qualified MCAT instructor in the Ann Arbor and Detroit Metro area. I have an extensive teaching background with top institutions like the University of Michigan, and scored higher on the MCAT than any other instructor in the region (was among the top 100 scores in the country). However it is not my qualifications that I am most proud of, but instead my results in helping others succeed on the MCAT.

* 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A MCAT TUTOR, teaching all subjects

* 3 YEARS EXPERIENCE AS A MCAT PREP INSTRUCTOR for one of the "Big 2" agencies

* 4 YEARS EXPERIENCE AS AN INSTRUCTOR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN, ANN ARBOR teaching undergraduate and graduate students

* SCORED IN THE 99.7TH PERCENTILE ON THE MCAT, ranking me in the top 100 people in the country who took the MCAT that year

* CURRENTLY A MEDICAL STUDENT, and thus have first-hand knowledge of the testing, application, and interview process

* EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH HUNDREDS OF PREMEDICAL STUDENTS IN THE PAST, helping them in various science courses or preparing for the MCAT

My Teaching Style:

I am familiar with the different agency courses and texts on the market, and am very happy to say that I do not teach based on any one prescribed method or curriculum, but rather adapt instruction to both my student and the subject material. I tailor my teaching technique to my client’s learning style, and thus my course is quite personalized to the individual student. I recognize that test subjects (physics, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, and reading comprehension) are very different, and use an approach specialized for each individual section of the MCAT. Finally, I include many study materials that I have written for students, such as a biology coursepack, detailed paradigm for the writing section, and organic chemistry review notes.

My Results:

Students who have not yet begun to prepare for the MCAT on average improve 10-15 POINTS after regular tutoring sessions. Students who have already studied for the test (but are seeking additional help), or students who have already taken the test and are seeking to improve upon their first score improve on average 5-7 POINTS after regular tutoring sessions. Many of my students score at or above a 34 on the MCAT.

I am very proud of my track record of helping students prepare and succeed on the MCAT, and consider myself to be a professional at what I do. I am happy to provide references from previous students upon request.

My Guarantee:

I offer new students the option to trial my tutoring services before purchasing a block of appointments. A student may meet with me for one hour and after which, if the student is not satisfied, that session will be free. However, if the student chooses to continue on with the tutoring sessions that I simply charge my flat fee for the first hour and each thereafter.

My Rates:

I charge a flat rate per hour that typically runs 40-50% LESS THAN THAT OF THE TEST PREP AGENCIES. I typically book 3-4 sessions at a time, with each session running 1-2 hours. Discounts are available for students seeking multiple sessions over a very short period of time. Please email me for my current rates, as they do change on a seasonal basis.

Dynamic Teaching and Coaching for the GMAT, GRE, and SAT

In my decade of teaching, I have worked with GMAT and GRE students of all educational backgrounds and have helped them to maximize their scores through clear, precise and compassionate teaching combined with an exceptional content knowledge. Many of my students have previously used another form of test preparation and were not happy with the outcome, but after working with me, my students were thrilled at how easy and interesting math (yes even GMAT/GRE math) can be.

Private, Personalized Service

The GMAT and GRE exams tests many years of acquired math skills, in addition to logic and reasoning skills and far too often students are placed in a crowded classroom course that fails to deliver this knowledge in the time provided. I provide students with highly personalized teaching that is strategic to their needs. As a result, my students see greater improvement in their math abilities, confidence, and their scores.

Professional Teaching Experience

Too often many tutors have limited formal teaching experience and as a result are unskilled, ill-prepared, or unqualified for the challenging task of teaching adult professionals the math necessary for a good score. I have professionally taught students from grade school to graduate school and I realize the importance of clarity, organization, efficiency, and compassion while working with students.

Original Teaching Curriculum

Too often students are given inadequate practice materials and as a result, they struggle to acquire the practice that is necessary to internalize and understand the math material that is tested. I work with an original math curriculum that was created by high school math teachers, GMAT and GRE tutors, and college math professors. The questions afford my students the advantage of practicing with material that is realistic, skill-building, and that allows students to learn global skills that can be employed across a large facet of math questions.

I will look forward to speaking with you about how I can help you to reach your target score. Please respond to this ad with phone number and the best time to reach you, and I will promptly get back to you. Please also indicate the test you are studying for, and include a little bit about your goals. I am always interested in hearing about your unique background.

Please leave me the best number to reach you at and I will call you back right away.

Hello, my name is Jordan Groleau, a bass performance major at UMich, studying both jazz AND classical.

Through taking 8 credits of lessons per semester from world renowned teachers Diana Gannett and Bob Hurst, I can offer you lessons that are sure to accommodate the needs of most any non professional player.

I also have been playing bass guitar for several years and would consider myself proficient with both finger style and slap technique.

I can teach you to groove, walk a bass line, play with the bow, improvise jazz solos, read chord changes, work on your ear, learn basic theory fundamentals through the bass itself, build your technique... anything bass/music related, i am sure i can at least point you in the right direction.

bass players should know:
12 percent of collegiate music students end up having a career in music.
take advantage of the fact that you play BASS, possibly the most versatile instrument out there! We are in demand! Get started with people who are associated with university music schools!

I think a good rate for lessons would be ~$30/hour. We would either meet at my house (for bass guitar lessons) or at the university school of music (for upright lessons). Unfortunately, I have limited transportation. In the style of many professionals, i can offer my first lesson as free.

if you would like to expand upon your passion for the instrument, or if you want to start out, I am sure I can help you move towards achieving your goals.

you can email me: groleau@umich.edu
or call my cell: 248-497-1110

Musically yours,

I have scored in the top percentiles of all test takers on the verbal and math sections of these tests, and have proven myself to be a successful teacher in assisting people in boosting their scores.

My typical students are those who have discovered most test prep books and commercial courses to be ineffective for their purposes, and who have decided to look for a highly skilled and exceptionally patient teacher for the GMAT, the GRE, and the SAT exams.

Most people incorrectly feel that these tests cannot be studied, but my typical student sees a large increase in his average score. I teach proven skills and techniques for excelling on these exams, which reduce and eliminate feelings of anxiety and fear that are the result of not having a complete understanding of the tests and what to study.

In the past several years I have taught hundreds of students how to divide the material into a range of strategies for getting a high score and it would be my sincere pleasure to be your instructor, too.

Please reply with the best phone number and time of day at which to reach you, and I will promptly get back to you. Please also indicate which test you are studying for, as well as a little bit about your individual situation. I am always interested in learning more about people’s unique goals and backgrounds.

Please leave me the best number to contact you at and I will promptly return your call.

I look forward to hearing from you!

I provide private tutoring for students having trouble in CHEMISTRY and PHYSICS. I will help you to master the material, lower your stress and study time, and most importantly, I will help you to increase your grade. Most of my students begin with a grade of C, or worse, and improve their grade to an A- or better.

I have been teaching these subjects for over ten years and I have helped literally hundreds of students in these classes. Many of my students have expressed to me that they understand physics and chemistry (and a bunch of supporting math) for the first time ever and that they wished that they had begun working with me sooner. I am kind, professional, articulate, and I will work very hard to ensure your success.

If you are having trouble with PHYSICS or CHEMISTRY, I can help you to increase your understanding of the material, increase your enjoyment of the subject, lower your study time, and raise your grade.

I have taught physics and chemistry for over a decade. I began teaching for five years as a Massachusetts certified science teacher and I had outstanding results with my students. I feel that my empathy, patience, and love of teaching were largely responsible for my students’ success. For the last 5 years, I have been providing the same exceptional teaching privately as a physics and chemistry tutor. My private students have enjoyed top-of-their-class grades, enhanced math and science skills, and sharpened scientific study skills that will follow them in future courses.

My tutoring is highly structured, systematic, and strategic. I realize that every student is unique and has different abilities that impact their learning and I tailor my strategy and delivery to the individual needs of each student. I am very comfortable working with students who may have learning disabilities or are struggling with the material, and I am also very comfortable working with advanced students wishing to earn the highest possible grade.

I will look forward to talking with you. Please email me and we can set up a complimentary consultation to further discuss your needs.

I'm Mike Shecket from Huge Head Test Prep, and I earned a perfect 2400 on the SAT and a perfect 36 on the ACT twice. (Full disclosure: I earned the perfect scores earlier this year retaking the test for professional development purposes...my top scores in high school were a 34 on the ACT and a 1530 out of 1600 on the old SAT. That's not to say I've gotten smarter since high school...) I have been in the test preparation business for nearly six years, and here's why I'm a great choice for PSAT, SAT, or ACT tutoring::

Unlike the big test prep companies, I'll tailor a customized tutoring plan to your needs instead of try to shoehorn you into a cookie-cutter, predefined program.

My rate is $60 per hour, which isn't cheap, but if you compare, you'll find that I charge significantly less than Kaplan, Princeton Review, and other big companies for one-on-one tutoring.

I offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If you're not happy with my services for any reason, let me know in writing within 30 days of our last meeting and I'll refund all the money you paid me, as well as the cost of any books or supplies.

Also unlike the big companies, who would be happy to take your money before you even know who your tutor will be, I'm glad to meet with you and give you a free sample tutoring session to help you make sure I'm the right fit.

I have plenty of excellent references available at your request: one of my recent students increased his ACT score from an 18 to a 30 (brag brag brag).

I can meet you in your home, at a public library, or at my office in downtown Ypsilanti.

I also offer tutoring for the LSAT, GMAT and GRE. Please e-mail or call today to set up a free appointment. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello,

I am looking to add more students to my studio this coming winter. I currently teach at the U of M School of Music several days a week, but can teach elsewhere if arranged and convenient.

I am a member of the Ann Arbor and Lansing Symphonies, as well as a frequent substitute with the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Toledo Symphony, and the Southwest and Jackson Symphonies. I
also play a lot of gigs and weddings, both classical and jazz.

I am also versed in playing jazz and in other musical genres other than classical (hip hop / pop) so if you are looking to expand your musicianship in those regards that is fine. I work with several young people as well
as people older than me, so I am comfortable teaching any age.

I would be more than happy to attach a resume and more information if you send an email my way. I am available immediately for adding more students and am looking to add about 2-3 more to balance my schedule.
Thank you and have a nice day.

It's time to get serious about your GMAT preparation. Why not choose an experienced, caring, professional tutor who fits your schedule and budget?

My name is Mike Shecket from Huge Head Test Prep, and here's why you should pick me for your GMAT preparation: I've taken and aced the real GMAT (which is my favorite test!), with a 99th percentile score of 780 (just in the last couple of months...up from 770 about two years ago and tantalizingly close to the elusive 800...), but primarily I'm trading on my experience and my talent for being encouraging and patient while explaining difficult concepts in a simple way. Therefore, the best way for me to show you why I'm a good choice for your GMAT prep is to meet you in person. That way, I can learn about you and your goals for the GMAT and business school, and you can find out if I'm a good match for you. I'd be pleased to give you a short sample tutoring session as well.

For GMAT tutoring, my current rate is $60/hour. I know it's a lot of money, but if you compare this to Kaplan or Princeton Review, you're going to find that you can save a lot of money studying with me. You also never know just what tutor you're going to get with the big companies, how much experience they have, or if they have experience taking the real test. You can meet me before you give me a cent, and if you think I'm a dope (I'm not), that I don't dress well (I don't), or that my jokes aren't funny (debatable), then you don't have to hire me. Finally, I offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee or I'll give you your money back (ask for details when we meet).

I have an office in downtown Ypsilanti, and you're welcome to meet me there, but I'm also glad to meet at your home, a public library, or cafe. In addition to GMAT prep, I also offer assistance for the SAT, ACT, GRE, and LSAT. I hope you'll call or e-mail soon for an appointment!

Please email me and we can discuss your needs and goals in more detail.

Be well.

I WANT TO EXPAND MY GUITAR PLAYING… not spend hours memorizing MODES!

You will not think it is possible, but you can now spend your time playing in DORIAN, PHRYGIAN or LYDIAN modes in minutes; not memorizing them for hours. I can show you how to move my PRIMARY scale around the neck and play in LOCRIAN, IONIAN or MIXOLYDIAN in moments. Any key. Thats right. You do not have to read music or TAB. AEOLIAN is yours in seconds. You don’t have to know a bit of music theory.

Say you sit-in with a piano player that says, “play this solo in A flat Phrygian” --could you do it? Or C sharp Lydian? Now you can. You’ll go right to the correct notes instantly. Write for more info- I can prove it to you without risk of your money. $10.00 and I pay the postage to send it to you.

Works for bass, too. There is only ONE fingering pattern to learn. My Modes Method tells you where to place it. Do not pass up this opportunity! This is a way to avoid having to learn music theory. IT DOES WORK!! I am not a scammer; I can prove this.

From Modes Method users:
Thanks, i like this approach....and its easy to modify it....later Curtis
Honesty is the best policy and it is very rare that people can do business with trust and confidence. I certainly appreciate you for that. take great care and thanks again. --Alex
