Automotive Sheet Metal Forming Release Engineer (Pontiac, MI)

Description: Systems Technology Group (STG) is in need of Automotive Sheet Metal Forming Release Engineers for our direct client in Pontiac, MI. The duration is long-term (6+ months). Must be able to successfully complete the required Drug Testing and Background Checks prior to starting assignment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead/Perform design activities including concept development, trade study, detailed design, DFMEA, DFM, etc.
• Supports/Leads prototype delivery timing for component/subsystem (e.g. timing, parts list, DFM)
• Coordinates engineering activities with other functions (e.g. suppliers, supplier quality, purchasing) to ensure delivery of product meeting requirements and imperatives
• Coordinates the design analysis and process
• Releases advance product components and/or line of products
• Diagnoses and corrects deficiencies
• Maintains cost controls
• Provides technical direction to support personnel
• Coordinates supportive build programs
• Coordinates test and/or development programs
• Coordinates engineering projects with other departments and/or divisions
• Coordinates with suppliers and/or customers on a regular basis
• Stays abreast of new technology

Required Skills/Experience:
• Working knowledge of product design tools: e.g. DFM/DFA, DFSS, Shaninin Red X, Design of Experiments etc.
• Must function well in engineering design team environment
• Hands-on, independent, self-motivated contributor with strong problem solving skills
• Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail
• Communication: Strong oral, written and presentation skills
• Experience with automotive sealing systems (head gasket design strongly preferred)
• Experience with Teamcenter, TcVis, Unigraphics, UG-NX
• Experience with releasing stainless steel stamping/forming designs (e.g. cylinder head gaskets), fuel cell knowledge (preferred)
• Experience with sheet metal forming or stamping
• Knowledge in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint -- Intermediate level
• Knowledge with Lotus Notes or other email communication tool -- Intermediate level
• Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally
• Strong written and oral communication skills necessary for meetings and presentations
• Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills
• Partners with senior management to analyze and solve issues
• Ability to multitask by handling diverse assignments concurrently
• Strong ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations
• Strong understanding of materials, engineering theory and principles of design
• Familiarity with basic hand and machine tools
• Strong ability to use common measurement tools and techniques
• Position related experience - 7 years
• Areas of expertise include: Testing, Design, Analysis

Required Education/Training:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
