Overview of the position:
The person who is hired for this position will work closely with the four other individuals on the Infant and Wobbler Teaching Team. The ultimate responsibility is to provide nurturing and compassionate care for our Infant students. An important aspect of this is maintaining a positive, safe, and healthy environment, while planning and being involved in lessons and activities for the students. You will be assigned a group of students within the Infant Class�this will be your �family group�. As the primary caregiver for your students, you will be responsible for completing any daily or weekly activity sheets for this group of students. Ongoing assessments and evaluations of your students' progress and development is also imperative. Communication with our family members is of the utmost importance to the TBDC Teaching Team. Therefore, you will also be expected to build and preserve an open line of communication with the families of your students. All teachers are responsible, in part, for the daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning in the building.

Minimum requirements and qualifications:
The selected candidate must not have any convictions involving child abuse or neglect, or a felony involving harm or threat of harm to an individual. He or she must also be at least eighteen years of age, and have received a Child Development Associates credential, but the ideal candidate would have a bachelor's degree (or higher) in education or a related field. Beyond that, you will only receive a response if you have professional experience working in early childhood education, preferably in a NAEYC accredited center. If you do not already have CPR & First Aid certifications, blood-borne pathogens training, and safe sleep/shaken baby syndrome trainings, you will be expected to receive these upon hiring.

GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Head Teacher, instructors in these areas will be responsible for the teaching of specified classes in compliance with the standards, policies and procedures of the Ann Arbor YMCA. It is expected that instructors will possess leadership, organizational and communication skills as well as the ability to develop and implement effective lesson plans.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
Extensive training in Gymnastics, institutes of higher education or other applicable organizations or clubs.

Teachers need an in-depth knowledge of safety factors and current teaching practices and techniques, extensive and successful teaching experience, and on-going personal initiatives to continue and improve professional growth and technical skill in one�s area of expertise.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare lessons and teach those classes mutually agreed upon with the Head instructor.
- Obtain a YMCA-approved substitute instructor for any class in which an unavoidable absence prevents teaching commitments from being met.
- Inform the program coordinator of any anticipated absence and the name of the substitute instructor. In emergencies, contact the coordinator or membership desk immediately.
- Attend staff meetings when designated.
- Be prepared to implement safety procedures for dealing with fire or other building emergencies.
